Bridgewater is comfortably nestled in the town of Little River, which offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the greater Grand Strand. As one of the oldest and most unique cities along the coast and located at the back door of popular North Myrtle Beach and several miles from the tourist mecca of Myrtle Beach, Little River is an ideal residential location just for you.
Most people are familiar with Myrtle Beach and its sun-kissed shores, but few truly know about or have explored the laidback and lovely hometown cities and communities that surround Myrtle Beach along the area known as the Grand Strand. Charming towns like Murrells Inlet, Surfside Beach, and Garden City are just a few of the those.
Bridgewater’s convenient location, at the crossroads of Highway 9 and U.S. 17, offers a close proximity to everything your heart desires—whether it’s enjoying a day at the glorious beaches of the Grand Strand … testing out new irons on one of the area’s premier golf courses … tasting local delicacies at any of the fine or casual dining spots … attending favorite concerts by national artists or favorite hometown bands … enjoying a little retail therapy at quaint local shops or big box favorites … or perhaps discovering quality professional and medical services, like the brand-new McLeod Seacoast Hospital, located directly across the street from Bridgewater. This list goes on, and there’s something new at every turn as you explore the hidden gems within and around Bridgewater.
The Bridgewater site used to be home to the 54-hole Bay Tree Golf Plantation, which opened in 1972, and in its heyday was one of the more popular local courses in a state known for its superior golfing opportunities. Residential developer Wakefield Development Company purchased the property in 2007 to eventually turn the 530-acre property into a beautiful master-planned community. Upon completion, Bridgewater will include more than 100 acres of lakes amongst the unique topography, with close to half of the community’s homesites having water views or backing up to one of the many large lakes on the property.
From an entertainment perspective, Bridgewater will offer an abundance of features, including a 5,000-square-foot clubhouse for activities, socializing, and creating new friendships. Inside the clubhouse, residents will find a 2,000-square-foot main room perfect for hosting private parties or community social gatherings. A catering-style kitchen, two generously sized rooms for private business meetings, luncheons or smaller functions, and a card room will also be found within the clubhouse. Overhead garage-style doors with full glass exposure will be part of the design, opening the clubhouse to the outdoors for a breath of fresh air.
An eight-foot-wide, multi-use trail will wind throughout Bridgewater, a state-of-the-art fitness center, two huge resort-style pools, an extra-large open park for outdoor movies, musical performances, or other forms of entertainment and a peaceful yoga area are slated for Bridgewater. Furry residents can enjoy separate but equal parks just for big and small dogs. And neighbors can cozy up around the glow of the friendly fire pit. Additionally, the community will include individual garden plots for residents, a kayak launch on the great lake, and a cookout area at the huge covered pavilion featuring outdoor grills and TVs for everyone to enjoy!
Bridgewater currently offers the three distinctive home collections, all featuring natural gas, called The Cottages, The Villa, and The Towns.
