Shallotte is a quaint little town in west-central Brunswick county just south of Holden Beach with a population of approximately 3,675. The town is 9.3 square miles and is part of the Myrtle Beach Metropolitan area. Shallotte is described as a having big city business with a small town style.
The Shallotte River passes directly through the town and there are accesses to Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, and Holden Beach just ten minutes away. Shallotte lies right in between the historic parts of Wilmington, NC and the tourist attractions of Myrtle Beach, SC. the town is home to major chain restaurants and franchise shopping destinations as well as plenty of local shops.
Shallotte is home to several renown golf courses, including Brunswick Country first course, Bierwood Golf Course. There are more than thirty other courses within a twenty minute drive of the town. Shallotte is also a fishing destination with options to cast off of the local pier or right on the shore.
Since Shallotte is conveniently both located on the mainland and close to nearby islands, it has developed as a shopping hub for locals and tourists. Although Shallotte is equipt with major shopping, dining, and entertainment options, it is still considered a small town with pride in its local and hometown feel.
