Litchfield Beach, also known as “Simply Litchfield”, lies just three miles north of Pawley’s Island on the South Carolina Grand Strand. The community gets its name from a rice plantation of the early 1800s, Litchfield Plantation. It was initially a retreat beach in the 1950s, and then modern development began in the 1960s.
Litchfield Beach is known for its aesthetic beauty and quiet charm. The area is hub for both tennis and golf. Just thirty miles south of Myrtle Beach, Litchfield offers a much more secluded and peaceful vacation atmosphere.
Litchfield beach is made up entirely of gated communities, two desirable resorts, and a few public beach accesses. It acts as a halfway point between the busy Myrtle Beach area and Historic Georgetown, so every member of the family can find something nearby to visit. Litchfield itself offers local boutiques, craft pub breweries, fine dining as well as many casual options.
The community takes pride in its appearance and is easily set apart from every other area in the Grand Strand. Once you decide to try out Litchfield beach, it will be hard to vacation anywhere else.
